Organizing The New School Year

Prepping The Mama

Here we are.  The final installment of this months series – Organizing The New School Year – and it’s all about you.  It’s Mama time!

While we’re busy prepping rooms and kids, planning and ordering we need to make sure we are ready.  Is your heart in this new school year?  The best place I know where to start is in the Word!  No better place to get yourself prepped for a new homeschool year than with God.

  • Start your mornings with your Father.  I am so not a morning person but no matter what time I get up my day needs to start with God’s Word!  Make it your non-negotiable.
  • Get your energy up and moving.  After my time in the Bible it’s time to get my blood flowing.  Whether it’s Yoga (which I use this time to praise Him in song) or a killer workout video – get moving.
  • Pray about your new school year – ask God to lead it.  Whether it’s by yourself, with your hubby or getting together with other Homeschoolin’ Mamas invite God to join your school year.  If you want Him to bless your year and time at home with your kids then you need to invite Him to take the lead.  We can’t do this on our own and we shouldn’t want to.

These are a few of my Fighter Verses from last year.  Focusing on them and recalling then during those tougher days helped me and I hope they do the same for you.

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.  {Proverbs 22:6}

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.  {2 Timothy 3:16-17}

I lift up my eyes to the hills.  From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.  {Psalm 121:1-2}

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.  {Psalm 16:11}

 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  {Jeremiah 29:11}

 I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!  {Psalm 34:1-3}

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.  {1 Thessalonians 5:11}

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.  {Proverbs 18:21}

 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.  {Ephesians 4:29}

  Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.  {James 1:12}

Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.  {Titus 2:7-8}

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.  {Proverbs 31:25}

She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.  {Proverbs 31:17}

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.  {Proverbs 18:2}

She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.  She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.  {Proverbs 31:19-20}

I’ve put together a little download for you of the above verses.  You have images with the verses for you to print out as reminders.  But I also have a coloring page of each verse.  I don’t know about you but I LOVE to color!  I think this is a great way to really dwell on the verse – while you’re coloring!
