Prayer For The Homeschoolin’ Mama

October is usually the start of my favorite time of year – Autumn!  I love all things fall.  The beautiful leaves falling, cooler days and nights, apple cider, pumpkin spice, fall decorations and knowing that Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  I love it all!

But I have to admit, this year I’m struggling with being excited.  Life seems so crazy around me.  Friends are attacking friends over political differences.  Social media has become a stress instead of a fun way to keep up with distant friends and family.  Personal struggles seem to be attacking our little family left and right.  And being a Christian Homeschooler feels like it needs to be kept top secret.  Some days it can feel nearly overwhelming.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:2

The Bible is very specific – we are to keep our focus on God and NOT this earth!  Be honest…this is NOT an easy task is it?  Some days it feels nearly impossible.  But we are called to focus on Him and not the drama of this earth.

I don’t know if you’ve been struggling lately too.  But I want to encourage you to put your focus back on God.  Life is always going to throw something (or many somethings) at you to try and distract you from your true purpose here on this earth.  It’s time to snap out of all of this “earthly distractions” and get back to God.

My prayer for each of us:

Lord, I know you love us.  You’ve proved it over and over again.  Your love is more than we can truly comprehend right now.  I learned of your love when I was a child and then felt it even deeper when I became a mother.  I can’t wait to see you in heaven and feel your love deepen even more.

Father, your children are struggling right now.  This earth feels overwhelming and at times unsafe for your children.  We desire to follow you and teach our children to do the same.  The families you’ve blessed us with are feeling a pressure from this earth that is nearly crushing at times.  Sadness is creeping in and trying to settle into our hearts.

I come to you, on behalf of your homeschooling daughters, and ask that you to give us strength.  Let us feel your strength rise inside us.  Let us know that this strength has come from you.  Show us the way to keep our focus on YOU and keep directing our children in the same way.  Help us to feel a calming come over us that can only come from you Lord.

Thank you for loving us.  Thank you for giving us your Son and a way to you.  Thank you for every little thing you do for us (even the things we miss).
