Sweet Chix Homeschool: Our School Room

Sweet Chix Homeschool – Our School Room

When we left Chicago last October we left behind my favorite school room we have ever had!  Wonderful natural light, great storage and  tile floor so I didn’t need to worry about art projects gone mad.  I loved writing about it last year and sharing all the photos too!

Our new home has a great finished basement and natural light.  It’s even a larger space.  BUT there is no storage what-so-ever and we struggled our way through last year.

All of our art, craft and school supplies were in tubs and stored in the corner.  Which meant I needed to dig through (or I had since found that I repurchased things that I had but couldn’t find).

This Summer I decided that for my own sanity I needed to sit down and finally get things organized.  I needed to purchase a few bookshelves and a little table for Boo.  She has decided she is a super big girl and we thought it was time for her to pick out her own school table for Tater Tot Time.

Boo’s Tater Tot corner may have been the most fun to put together.  I have a set of her Alphabet Cards on the wall for her.

This is my first year of incorporating the Montessori way of learning into our homeschool.  So I decided to create a learning center just for Boo.

So you can’t be a homeschooler without loads of books.  Well, I guess you can see my obsession here.  These are all of the books we will be using for the 2013-2014 school year!  For both girls that is.

Our {new} school room (before I moved Boo’s table and easel for the third time).

Oh!  That corner that was filled with tubs of our supplies?  YES – it is just so beautiful now!  I may cry.  I love when things are organized.  My mind can focus and work properly.

Now all of this doesn’t mean that we won’t be heading to the kitchen for Science experiments or reading on the porch or sofa’s.  But it doesn’t mean that we finally have a wonderful space for most of our school time.  A place to keep us focused, organized and engaged!  I can’t wait to get started!
